Understanding the Three Major Metabolic Groups and the Twelve Metabolic Types--- Their Characteristics and Health Traits

A Synopsis of the Three Groups and Twelve Types

This synopsis is provided for readers who do not want to take the time to read the details to follow.

There are three major groups of metabolisms. They are Carbohydrate-based (Group A), Protein-based (Group B) and Balanced Carbohydrate/Protein (Group C). The three groups are divided into twelve Metabolic Types:

  • Group A includes Metabolic Types 1, 4, 6, and 11.
  • Group B includes Metabolic Types 2, 5, 7 and 12.
  • Group C includes Metabolic Types 3, 8, 9, and 10.

Synopsis-Group A-Carbohydrate-based Types 1, 4, 6, 11

  • Type 1: Vegetarian. Needs no animal products at all. Can live entirely on fruits, vegetables and nuts. Eating meat causes sleepiness of grogginess.
  • Type 4: Non-strict vegetarian. Needs some animal products such as fish, chicken, eggs and unpasteurized goat cheese several times a week.
  • Type 6: Combination of Types 1 and 4, but has horrible metabolism. Needs more food to make up for lack of absorption.
  • Type 11: Most efficient of carbohydrate types. They need little food and prefer fruits, vegetables and sugars to other foods. They have lots of energy.

Synopsis-Group B-Protein-based Types 2, 5, 7, 12

  • Type 2: Extremely carnivorous. Need meat up to 14 ounces a day, preferably beef. Have little or no energy unless they eat meat. They do well with venison, lamb, salmon, butter and cream. Non-green vegetables are good such as cauliflower, mushrooms and cabbage.
  • Type 5: Need meat to feel good, but less often, perhaps 2-3 times a week.
  • Type 7: A cross between Types 2, and 5 but with the poor metabolism of Type 3. Need more enzymes and possibly hydrochloric acid supplements per meal.
  • Type 12: Super-efficient metabolism, happy, cheery, creative. Need meat to function best. Root vegetables give them long term energy.

Synopsis-Group C-Balanced Carb/Protein Types 3, 8, 9, 10

  • Type 3: Has horrible metabolism. Only absorbs 15% of what he or she eats. Must eat large amounts of food to get nutrition into the body. Feels bad a lot of the time. Needs more enzymes and possibly hydrochloric acid supplements.
  • Type 8: Normal balanced metabolism. Is able to eat and benefit from all foods, provided they are wholesome.
  • Type 9: Same as Type 8 except needs 70% cooked food in the diet. Not fond of raw food.
  • Type 10: Super-efficient metabolism. Needs very little food and sleep, yet feels terrific.

End of Synopsis. For more detailed information on each of the twelve types, see Metabolic Typing for more details.
