Group C Dietary Requirements

Referring to the Metabolic Spiral note that there is a progressive change from carbohydrate and vegetable requirements on the extreme left of the graph to balanced carbohydrate/protein in the center to heavy meat and protein requirements on the extreme right. Therefore, locating your type on the graph, gives you an overview of your requirements of carbohydrates versus proteins. The farther you are to the left of center, the greater the carbohydrate requirements. The farther to the right of center, the greater the protein requirements. Being near the center places you in the envious position of being able to eat most all healthy foods.

Weight Loss Guidelines For Balanced Carb/protein-based Metabolisms

For persons utilizing Metabolic Typing for weight loss, we strongly urge you to study The Metabolic Typing Diet by William Wolcott.

Here are a few tips for you to follow in order to maximize the benefit of dieting according to your metabolic type. Also, don’t overlook the Obesity pages of this web site.

1. Minimize the stress in your life as much as possible. Stress causes a release of cortisol, an adrenal hormone which, in turn, leads to the conversion of sugar to fat.

2. Identify your basal metabolic rate (bmr). The bmr is the number of calories you burn in a day if you do no activity, for example, lying on the couch all day. The average bmr is between 1200 and 2000 calories per day. If you eat 500 calories per day less than your bmr, you will lose weight. If you have a slow metabolism under about 1500 calories, we recommend that you nonetheless never reduce your caloric intake below 1000 per day. Most nutritionists and fitness centers have the equipment for you to determine your bmr.

You will find details for understanding calorie counting on our Diabetes pages and an all inclusive list of foods and their caloric content as well as carbohydrate, protein and fat content at www.ntwrks.com/~mikev/chart1.html.

3. Exercise is key to all good health and weight loss is no exception. Please visit the Exercise pages of this web site for more information.

4. Dieting according to your metabolic type dictates that you understand the macronutrient ratios of the foods you eat. Carbohydrates, proteins and fats are called macronutrients. It is imperative that you follow the macronutrient ratio guidelines for your type of metabolism listed below. If you do not, you will not really be using the whole concept of metabolic typing to your advantage.

Macronutrient Ratios for Balanced Carb/protein-based Metabolisms

Carbohydrates: 20-40%

Protein: 30-40%

Fats: 20-40%

These macronutrient percentages are based upon calories, not servings or volume. To understand how to calculate these percentages please again visit the links above cited including Diabetes

Food Requirements for Balanced Carb/Protein-based Types 3,8,9,10

The persons with balanced carb/protein-based type of metabolisms enjoy the benefit of eating from both the carbohydrate and protein-based food requirements. Therefore the balanced metabolism person should study both the other two groups' food lists and general nutritional requirements: Group A and Group B

Some Group C Dietary Rules

  • Eat quality food, avoid junk food.
  • Avoid processed and packaged foods. Many of these foods contain partially hydrogenated oils which are subtly destructive.
  • Avoid white sugar and artificial sweeteners such as Nutrasweet.
  • Avoid all sodas
  • Use coffee and tea sparingly.
  • Use alcohol sparingly.
  • Take supplements specifically formulated for your Metabolic Type.
  • Other Factors Influencing Your Weight

Is imperative to understand that there can be a number of other factors influencing your weight beyond just dietary. They include thyroid problems, insulin resistance, adrenal gland insufficiency, estrogen imbalance and psychological issues. Eating and supplementing according to your metabolic type will help balance those body systems. However, if you think you may have a problem with any of these body systems, we strongly urge to take the online Comprehensive Health Assessment. The assessment will help you identify health issues beyond diet which may be affecting your weight. You can take the results of the assessment to your alternative physician for his guidance in correcting any problems the assessment uncovers.

Group C includes Types 3,8,9 & 10. These types have balanced metabolisms which are neither strongly vegetarian nor strongly meat eating-they fall in the middle. They have characteristics of both vegetarian and meat eating. People in this category have the greatest freedom in what they can eat. Indeed, they enjoy and thrive equally on foods from both the vegetarian and meat-eating categories.

The balanced metabolizers burn their food neither too fast nor too slow. This is one of the reasons they do equally well on all varieties of food.

Balanced metabolizers generally need such nutritional support as vitamins A, B-1, B-2, B-6, B-12, Niacinamide, Vitamin C, Bioflavonoids, Vitamin E, Folic Acid, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, PABA, Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Manganese, Chromium and Zinc. They also require extra amounts of Hydrochloric Acid and Pancreatic Enzymes.

The balanced metabolizers can suffer from the conditions and disorders of either the vegetarian groups or the carnivore groups.

Type Three Specifics. Type Three metabolizers are balanced metabolizers. That is, their sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems are functioning in balance equally well. However, Type Three metabolizers come with bodies that are very inefficient. No matter what foods or supplements they take in, they are generally only going to use about 10% to 15% of them. Type Three’s find it difficult for their individual cells to obtain adequate nutrition. All refined, processed, synthetic foods and food additives must be avoided at all times. They must of necessity take larger quantities of nutritional supplementation to maintain their nutritional health than any other type. They must eat food prepared in such a manner to be easily digested. They should have a wide variety of foods, which enables them to get the wide spectrum of nutrients their bodies require.

Types three (and six and seven) metabolizers are generally those with the poorest health. They have to keep constant vigilance over their diet and supplements. Generally they have inherited weak, defective bodies and very rarely will they ever have good health and feel really well if they are not extremely cautious. Unfortunately, due to the stress of modern living and deterioration of the nutrient value of our food supply, more and more Americans who have inherited good bodies have so exhausted their bodies’ reserves that they are now functioning in the Type Three (or Six or Seven) range. It will take supreme effort to rebuild and repair these bodies and put them back into normal optimum health again.

    Group C, Type Eight

The correct supplement formula for Type Eight is the Metabolic Axiom Group C product.

Type Eight Specifics. Type Eight metabolizers account for the greatest number of people. More Americans are Type Eight than any other metabolic type. Type Eight metabolizers have fairly healthy bodies. Their bodies can adapt to a wide variety of stresses and yet remain stable. Their autonomic nervous systems also have a wide range of adaptability. Type Eight people need a wide variety of foods each day. This permits them to attempt to obtain a large variety of nutrients required to operate their bodies efficiently. Nutritional supplements, like their food, must cover a wide spectrum.

Type Nine Specifics. Type Nine metabolizers are in the balanced class—their sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems work equally well. This type is the most difficult to understand. If these people had a choice, they would always prefer cooked food. Working with these people through the years has lead to the conclusion that they need cooked food to be satisfied. They generally require 70% cooked food and can comfortably handle 30% raw food. Type nine’s do best when they can eat at smorgasbord three or four times a week. In other words, if they eat a little of everything, they function best.

    Group C, Type Ten

Type Ten Specifics. Type Ten metabolizers are the people with balanced and super efficient metabolisms. They need a wide variety of foods and supplements, but they do not require a large quantity of anything. Their bodies are so incredibly efficient that they need very small amounts of food. If they eat a normal meal, they feel more than satisfied. They can eat half as much as any other metabolic type. They do well on any food but often prefer raw fruits, vegetables, whole grains and unpasteurized goat cheese.

    General Characteristics of Group C Balanced Carb/Protein Types 3, 8, 9, and 10

Group C metabolizers have balanced autonomic nervous systems. The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems work well together in a normal balance of glandular activity and metabolic function. They are neither strongly meat eating nor strongly vegetarian--they fall in the middle. They have the greatest freedom in what they can eat and equally enjoy foods from both the meat eating and vegetarian categories. They burn their food neither too fast or too slow and therefore do well on a variety of foods.
